CRUISE - REVIEW

The story of Peter Pozsony

cruise review

I started the two-week cruise Norwegian Crown from Valparaiso to Buenods Aires alone, with no friends with me. I decided to do this trip alone, because I liked to discover the area alone and to have time enough to meditate. The ship was very large and I could really feel anonymous among so many passengers. That was what I needed. Unfortunately my cabin had not a window, which disabled me to observe the ocean. But is had a television, one of the channels broadcast our ship in different angles, so I could however see the ship passing through the waves. The cabin was quite large and enough spacious to range my luggage and to feel comfortable. My cabin steward was very polite and didn’t bother me during the journey. I even tried the room service, I had several meals in the cabin, but I was not a bit peased at the quality of the food. They served me some little sandwiches, which I couldn’t even name sandwich. However, the meal served in the dining room was delicious, I have to notice.
The nice part of the trip was to discover and observe the nature of South America. Several nights of the trip the sun was setting at 11.30 p.m. It was really amazing!
About sleeping on board, I have to notice it was not very pleasant for me in the beginning. The cabin steward told me there were amortise facilities, but I could really feel the ship banging and shaking. So this was a little discomfort but atfer the third day it didn't embarrass me much.
On the second day we could see some traditional dances of the Native Indians, a band of the coast performing for us, while the ship was in a port. In fact entertainment on board was much well than I expected. Only the Lido Lounge did not present anything interesting and including the fact that drinks were unduly expensive, I visited it only once.
The most interesting thing for me were the lectures on the Indian Culture and History, which were visited by many passengers and some of them had to be repeated.
The food was delicious and gave me the opportunity to taste local food. Every night the food was different from the previous and it was very exciting to try food from the countries I travelled to. The dining room had a face control, which required special clothes to dine in it.
This remembered me on the movie 'Titanik'. Unfortunately, on this ship there wasn't floor for the poor, but jolly guys, who dance reel until the mourning. I would be glad to join them . However, I tried several times the room service, but finally chose the dining room and some other bars.
My favourite place on board was the lounge, which provided panoramic view to the ocean. The staff was multinational and not every one spoke English fluently. It was kind of joke for me to speak with them. The ship was very tidy and well organised and I'm gratified with the journey. However I could not travel again the same cruise, but I certainly will explore another destination. It will be interesting to share this with some friends of mine, despite of that I don't like much the big, endles parties.
