My name is Hans Dietrich and we both with my wife decided to go on a cruise journey for our 20th anniversary, in May, this year. As we both are interested in Ancient History, we chose a trip along the river Nile.
We looked forward of going on the journey, because we haven’t seen Egypt and the pyramids since ten years. It wasn’t our first cruise journey and I have to admit that we knew what to expect, but we wholly enjoyed it.
The service was excellent, the cabins were very comfortable and luxurious, the staff was friendly and very kind. They really tried to complete every of our desires and recommendations. Our cabin was very spacious, it comprised two single beds, which could be joined, two coffee tables, four chairs, a sofa, three wardrobes, a TV and a luxurious bathroom. The only thing I did not appreciate much was the fact that the walls of the cabins were very thin! We could hear our neighbors, as they were moving inside their room. Except this, everything was perfect.
We were very content to see one again the Sahara desert, to meet the pyramids and to try the local food. My wife absolutely adored the kebabs and koftas, but I was not very content of it, because it was too spicy and oily for me.
However the heat on the shore was unbearable and we were lucky to go back on our ship and to escape the heat and the local hotels, where the hygiene is not so observed. We took some wonderful photos.
I have to say a word about the staff. They were really very kind and looked after us, providing us everything we needed and even more. As we are non-smokers, the staff reserved us non-smoker places in the dining room. One more thing: I am a vegetarian and on our previous journeys, I was forced to content myself with pasta with tomato sauce, because of the poor menu. This time was completely different. I was very pleased to find a separate vegetarian menu.
At night we could chose between different kind of entertainment: go to the night club on board, go to a casino, stay in some of the bars, participate at the party around the swimming pool or go on a festival the staff organized for us with live music. We also could see some traditional dancing and singing. Some traditional groups performed for us while the ship was in port.
At the end of the journey we felt well entertained and relaxed and we decided to repeat the experience one more time at least. If anyone asks me about my opinion, I would strongly recommend to try a cruise journey. He wouldn’t regret.
